A Dogs Life

A dog, mans best friend, or a ladies best friend too. A lot of people have a dog for their best friend. Many people take joy in getting fresh air with their furry four legged friend. Dogs are very faithful to their masters. They love them without ever asking for much in return. An occasional pat on the head and a brushing or grooming may do the trick for showing their love.

Many dogs today are greatly abused. It is terrible to leave a dog out side all day long while we humans work hours. Leaving a dog outside is necessary, but in that do they have a cool place to lay or sit? Do they have food and fresh water? These are things that need to be considered when caring for a dog.

Dogs in their own way are humans. We should care for them like we care for small children. There are many dog parks out there to take our furry counterparts too. Matter of fact it would not hurt us humans either if we were to get out and away from the rat race.

Now days there are animal cops that crack down on the abusive humans. They are to be commended on jobs well done. What humans do to dogs is a terrible site. The care we give some is atrocious.

In loving an animal we should take into consideration the size of our home. If you have a small home, condo or an apartment, then you should consider no animal, or a very small pet, versus a dog. Dogs are not meant to be cooped up. In a larger home with ample back yard for the dog to play in would be ok. In choosing the right sized dog, just consider how much they weight. Compare the weight to a human. This will give a guide. If the dog is 20 pounds you may consider this a small to medium build dog. This dog would be ok for a condo. Any dog larger, you may want to reconsider.

Dogs have always been faithful to us humans. They do not look for much and they ask for little in return. A dog that has proper training and love will be the perfect pet!

What makes some people think a human life is more precious than a dogs life?
I have noticed that some people say things like "People who worry about how dogs are treated in a world with starving human children should be fed to the dogs" or "Why worry about dogs which are just an animal when there are children suffering in the world?

Why does it have to be either or, instead of both AND?
Why are some people so narrowminded that they cant have compassion for all life? Shouldnt we as the supposedly most intelligent species on the planet and supposedly the only ones with emotion have it in us to love all life and protect all life from suffering?
Isnt it rather selfish and egotistical to assume that human life is the only life worth protecting and having compassion for?

People that can misuse animals are people that I despise. these people are ruthless, heartless and incapable of "love". Animals are the definition of unconditional love to me. animals are a part of this world just as we are. we take them in our homes but expect them to fend for themselves when it is our responsibility. unfortunately people feel this way. this is a great question….thanks this is something to think about.

I am a dog lover myself. I can’t imagine people with no regards to the animals. I know that children in Africa are starving that kind of stuff and I ‘m feeding my dog treats. But for me dogs are emotional comfort and the attachment , love and adoration I take from them are heart warming. Ok there are many people starving on earth but they are just strangers but the dog is part of my family . People who haven’t experience animal’s love or those who don’t even have pets. Could never understand it.

Well.. I am not sure why some people are like that. Its pretty sad though. I too think it can be both that we are concerned about and try to help.
I don’t really have an answer to this question. In order to have an answer I would have to talk to a lot of people. However I did want to say that it is encouraging just to know someone cares enough to ask a question like this. I think there are different levels of compassion and people like you and I have enough compassion for animals and human beings. Have a good day.

People who argue from either side view the other side as narrow minded. Anyways, it’s expected that some people view a human life as more valuable, think about it…there are people who value the life of a person from a certain religion, or race more then they value the life of another person(same species here). In my opinion it all depends on how you view bonds. Some people can bond to their pet like it was a part of their family, some people can only bond to people who share their views. I’d say most people I know as well as myself fall somewhere in between. I do feel like a human life (any human life) holds more weight in a sense, perhaps because from a natural standpoint humans are omnivores, we are meant to eat meat as well. I personally don’t grow attached to what I’m about to eat. I would never intentionally cause harm or kill an animal for the fun of it, but would do so in order to eat/survive. (People can but aren’t necessarily meant to survive off just vegetables) I don’t know if this gives you any insight on your question (i hope it does), but you really should refrain from saying anyone w/a point of view different from yours is narrow minded.

I can understand why you’d be irritated or frustrated with other people dismissing your concerns. It is okay to be concerned about animals’ well-being and to stick up for how you feel. Other people certainly don’t need to put you down because you feel this way. We already know that dogs (or cats, for that matter) didn’t invent the wheel. They are still God’s creatures and need care and love.

I agree 110%. Animals are just as precious as humans and we have no right to make be so selfish and conceited. So many humans think that this world and everyhting in it was put here for them to expolit and destroy at their will. It makes me angry. Besides dogs are better beings then we are. They are loyal and loving and deserve just as much respect. I would save an animal before I wouuld save some humans.

I agree with you that we should have compassion for ALL life and that human life is not the ONLY life worth of protecting….if you are more passionate about the animals in this world, then that´s ok…..others are passionate about saving the nature, old monuments or whatever and we need those people as well….HOWEVER if I had to choose between saving a person or an animal (let´s say in a burning building) my priority would be saving all the humans first even if I disliked them or if they were criminals ….only after that I would start thinking about saving the animals…and I wouldn´t risk my life for an animal, not even my own pets, but I´d like to think I would for a person….
