I don’t keep my dog …
I don’t keep my dog in a leash at all. We just communicate and I’ve heard about the dangers but I didn’t had problems at all, she gets along with people and other dogs very well, I like to keep her as free as I can. I have a two year old Shar-Pei.

I’ve got 2 – 55 lb. …
I’ve got 2 – 55 lb. dogs (2 & 4 yrs old). Each walks nicely alone on leash using this technique. Where it gets difficult is when both are on leash together; the younger dog wants to lead and begins pulling. I use the same grip, holding both leashes together. It takes a few direction changes to get her to pay more attention to me than the other dog.

like your story …
like your story about husky pulling, they’re so strong for their size. my four month old husky walks fairly well, but sometimes she pulls. good advice not to wrap, sometimes i forget and do that, but i do know it gets worse when i do. i usu. just grab the leash halfway and walk like that with the rest of the leash behind me or in front of me in the other hand. this works for us very well. thanks again eric!

I have a GSD …
I have a GSD Doberman mix who is 2 yrs old. He is trained in all other things accept leash walking due to his goofyness, lol. He will only walk nicely on a prong collar which I hate using. The problem is that his looks frightens people and he gets even more excited when people react because he wants to play, not bite them. I will try again using your holding technique with a leather and not chain choke collar and see if that works.

My puppy couldn’t …
My puppy couldn’t go for walks until she was about 3 months anyways. And in the period of time the first time we tried to walk her when she was 2 months and now, she is so smart she learned to do it without us teaching her. ( We waited for her 2nd shots) She even learned how not to bight the leash herself.
